Nine outstanding individuals and organisations were honoured on 23 October 2019 for their work assisting new migrants to successfully settle in the Australian community at the 2019 Australian Migration and Settlement Awards at Parliament House, Canberra.
The winners were selected from among 24 finalists across 9 categories: Business Inclusion, Case Worker of the Year, Diversity and the Law, Empowering Women, Journalism Excellence, Lifetime Achievement, Local Government, Settlement Innovation, and Sports Leadership Award.
The finalists were selected by an eminent, independent judging panel chaired by Kathryn Fagg AO and assisted by Bao Hoang, David Knox and Patty Kinnersly.
The Prime Minister, The Honourable Scott Morrison MP, and the Leader of the Opposition, The Honourable Anthiny Albanese MP spoke at the gala dinner hosted by the Migration Council Australia, attended by leaders in business, government, sport, academia, media and community.
The awards brought together business, journalists and the community sector to recognise the remarkable achievements of new migrants and those who support them to build a, more inclusive and diverse Australia.
